Kelly Clarkson – Breaking Your Own Heart lyrics
Shaking your head like it's all wrong
Before you're here you're already gone
And even with the light all around you
You're all alone in the dark.
You're breaking your own heart
Taking it too far down the lonely road
You say it's just one love
But when it's close enough you just let it go
The very thing you've been the most afraid of
You've been doing it from the start, breaking your own heart.
Too many tears, too many falls
It's easy to hear behind these walls
But you don't have to walk in the shadows
Life is so hard.
You're breaking your own heart
Taking it too far down the lonely road
You say it's just one love
But when it's close enough you just let it go
The very thing you've been the most afraid of
You've been doing it from the start, breaking your own heart.

You're breaking your own heart.
It's not too late, I'm still right here.
If only you let go of your fears.
You're breaking your heart
Taking your own heart down the lonely road
You say it's just one love
But when it's close enough you just let it go
The very thing you've been the most afraid of
You've been doing it from the start, breaking your own heart.
You're breaking your own heart

Falling deeply in love once (or even twice) and having your heart badly broken, it sometimes takes years to get over that hurt and you begin to believe that every person who shows the slightest interest in you is going to eventually hurt you. So, you put up walls, keep that person at a distance and believe that no one will ever love you without causing you pain. It's a very lonely road and little by little you do break your own heart just by believing that you're not worthy of being loved or even being cared about. Yet, that person is still there - hoping that you'll let down the walls, let him in and let him love you. Maybe one day.

Falling in love or having a friend that is hurting you. Yet you still love them. Wanting to let go, but you can't. They hurt you, abuse you, control you. But you still love the other part of them that is good. Yet you know, your love or friendship will never be true, and you will have to let go of them. And they knew that would happen. Taking the falls, but finally breaking free, healing the wounds. The person should've known it wouldn't last, they were breaking both your hearts by overusing your heart.

I get that this song is about a broken heart after a love relationship. But I like finding a more personal deeper meaning in songs. Between the lines sorta thing. In my own meaning its about fear loneliness and unworthiness and self isolation is the only way to avoid being hurt because you "walk in the shadows".

It's wrapping up all the emotions you feel right before you run away from the person you love with all your heart. When they do something wrong such as cheating but you have to let go that feel you get when your heart is about to fall out your butt, you lose your breath, you lose your footing in life and you have to let go but you don't want to even though it would be for the best and there is someone waiting to make you happy out there somewhere but you don't want to let go of what could have been or you run away from a good guy when you think its to go to be true so you flee and the regret afterwards eats you alive.

It's the exact situation that just happened to me. My ex broke up with me as he doesn't want to hurt me down the line, he gets to a point in a relationship feels trapped and breaks up with that person even if he truly loves them. He is hurting more than me right now because I know he feels torn and it wasn't an easy decision. But I know he has to deal with how he is feeling himself so I have left him be it just makes me sad to see it.

I know it's about not being able to trust or something like that. But I personally manage break my own heart by day dreaming to much and being upset when it never happens the way I want. I imagine the impossible. So I am breaking my own heart. You just need to focus on what is happening now and be happy what with is happening. You'll reach better dreams than just day dreams. X

My boyfriend and I got in a fight about a picture someone sent to him. The pictures were of me and my ex but they were taken long before we broke up, and whoever sent them to him made it seem like they were just taken! Well once he told me he couldn't trust me anymore I sang this song to him at one of the church concerts we had.

It's painful to be broken-hearted. So when there's a potential love coming your way, you push it away. Too afraid that if you're too attached, it would be more painful for you. You're trying to protect your heart, but instead, what you're doing is what makes your heart bleed.
I get it. But for me, it's more painful if someone else breaks my heart. I'd rather be miserably alone than going thru miserable breakups all over again.

These lyrics are so wrong. It's not hard to hear what the lyrics are if you actually listen to the song. "you say its just one love"? That doesn't even make sense. Songs like this usually make sense. Its "you say you just want love, but when its close enough, you just let it go". Makes sense huh? Lol, people crack me up. That's why you can't teust lyric sites.

This song is about someone who over analyzes everything and ends things even before they begin whether it be with a person, a job, any kind of risk that they may fail or get hurt from they don't take the chance. It's about not wanting to set yourself up for disapointment, hurt, and failure. So in the end you are doing what you are most afraid of: breaking your own heart.

It's about keeping negative thoughts about the ones you love not family, but friends and including that person you're in love with. But these thoughts are actually not true. This is what I think of this song because it's a personal experience. I have a group of guy friends wh are like brothers to me. I was in love with one of them and I admit it to him, while our friendship grew even stronger and we were going out lately I was having these thoughts about the guy and the boys that I am not wanted but that stage is over because I realized as long as I love myself everyone else will love you, like good charlotte says: misery loves company.
