Judas Priest – The Green Manalishi lyrics
Now when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
And the night is so black that the darkness cooks
And you come creeping around, making me do things I don't want to do

Can't believe that she needs my love so bad
Come sneaking around, trying to drive me mad
Busting in all my dreams, making me see things I don't want to see

'cause you're the green manalishi with the two-pronged crown
All night dragging us up, or you're bringing us down
Just taking my love, and slip away
Leaving me here, trying to keep from following you

Peter green (he founded fleetwood mac) wrote that song after waking up from a nightmare. He had fallen asleep in daylight but woke up after it had turned dark, in a really dark room. During this nightmare he has said that he stopped breathing and an old childhood pet (a dog) jumped on him and waked him so he started breathing again. The "green manilish" was what was after him in his dreams; he was also heavily getting into lsd at the time and was desending into a real bad state. He also stated that the "green manalishi" was representing the monster of excess fame and money, in which he was having a hard time with as he was at the apex of his career. Somehow he couldn't reconcile the fact that one ordinary man such as him could make so much money when there were so many poor and downtrodden in the world. Not long after this he gave all his money away and dropped out of the music scene. He was often seen wandering the streets living the life of the homeless racked with mental health problems (most say triggered by lsd use). Years later he made a great comeback and continued playing and writing music in many bands solo and often with other musicians.
Truly a great musician and composer and also a great human interest case, if you care to look his story up further!
