Independence Day – Battle Hymn Of The Republic lyrics
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of
Wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible
Swift sword;
His truth is marching on
.

CHORUS
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watchfires of a hundred circling
Camps;
They have building Him an altar in the evening dews and
Damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring
Lamps;
His day is marching on.

CHORUS
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel, writ in burnished rows of steel;
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall
Deal;
Let the hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on."

CHORUS
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call
Retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgement
Seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubliant,
My feet!
Our God is marching on
.

CHORUS
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Since God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the
Sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on
.

CHORUS
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
While God is marching on.

    The battle hymn of the republic was written with a dispensationalist understanding of scripture looking to the time when christ would bare his mighty right arm, and execute judgment upon the earth, not for the sake of only being the "avenger of blood", but also the "kinsman redeemer" of mankind. It goes on in the spirit of "all men equally sinners, equally loved, and equally availing to jesus redemptive work" to free, as equals, our fellow man from unjust slavery. Isaiah 61: 1-3

    Freedom is not free - it comes with great cost of our soldier's lives. If we continue not standing up for the right things of god as god intended as written in the torah and the bible, which is the word of god. We will fall. For a nation divided against itself will not stand but will fall. God is the reason america came to be from the beginning. Freedom of religion - not freedom from religion.

    Love this song! Praise god for our heroes! Don't beleive anything but the gospel of Jesus Christ, and don't believe anything anyone tells you that contradicts his words! The evil one will tempt you to believe the lies of this world, but jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and he is the only way anyone can ever enter heaven, because you can never do anything to get yourself into heaven, only be the blood of Jesus Christ May a man enter his kingdom!

    I beleive this song was the salvation of the union army. Look at their leadership, men like gen. Hooker, gen. Grant. Gen. Custer. These are men that history remembers as great sinners. For three years they could not even dent a army they outgunned, outmanned and even out supplied.
    Why? Will the confederacy was lead by great men of god, like gen. Lee, gen. Jackson, gen. Alexander.
    How than was the union finally able to be victorious? They went into battle under a praise hymn.
