Hozier – Someone New lyrics
Don't take this the wrong way
You knew who I was every step that I ran to you
Only blue or black day

Electing strange perfections in any stranger I choose

Would things be easier if there was a right way
Honey there is no right way

And so I fall in love just a little ol' little bit
Every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new

There's an art to life's distractions
Somehow escapes the burning weight the art of scraping through

Some like to imagine
The dark caress of someone else I guess any thrill will do

Would things be easier if there was a right way
Honey there is no right way

And so I fall in love just a little ol' little bit
Every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new

I wake at the first cringe of morning
And my heart's already sinned
.
How pure, how sweet a love, Aretha can you would pray for him?

Cause God knows I fall in love just a little ol' little bit
Every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new

Love with every stranger the stranger the better
Love with every stranger the stranger the better
Love with every stranger the stranger the better
Love with every stranger the stranger the better
Love with every stranger the stranger the better
Love with every stranger the stranger the better

I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
(Repeat til end)

He is as hard-wired for non-monogamy as some are for homosexuality. He is young and his culture frowns on this, so he suffers with a sense of sin and has a wish that it were somehow easier to be his true self. It has nothing to do with any current relationship, IMO, and everything to do with All of his (many non-monogamous) relationships. He seeks understanding and acceptance he has (not yet) even given himself.

It may take him a while. I knew I was non-monogamous by age 14, but did not have my That's Okay epiphany until I was age 60. If you are a kindred spirit of mine, reading this and still struggling, please Know, it is Way Okay to be wired for non-monogamy.

Best to you and yours in all things.

Okay, this song is by an Irishman. So, it's not at all difficult to understand the meaning. He is saying to his current girlfriend/lover/wife that from the outset he made it clear he wasn't a man to be tied down emotionally, that he would always have his eye out for other women - not to necessarily consummate his yearnings for them, but to have internal dalliances with them. It's a song by a man who wants to continue his current relationship, but to be cut a bit of slack for those imagined liaisons, because he was honest and upfront about the type of person he is. The cello at the beginning sets the tone - it's an instrumental flirt, it's a light touch, it's "come on, don't be upset, it's not big deal, it's just my little weakness". I think Hozier is writing "age appropriate" songs and he is letting the women of the world know that if they come his way, they should expect a drifter, a man not ready to settle down, a man keeping his options open! Hozier - I love your songs, keep up the good work! The video is worth a look too!

I was wondering if it was a metaphor or something. But I think if you take it literally, it's about someone who's not committed to his current relationship. It sounds like he's emotionally leaving it and letting her know. If you tell someone you're falling in love with strangers every day, it means that you want to break up. Who would stay in that kind of relationship? "Falling in love with someone new; Love with every stranger." So he likes to fall in love with people he doesn't know. He's setting himself up for disappointment unless he's talking about one night stands. Maybe that's what it's about. I've met people who go through phases like that. Eventually, you miss a meaningful relationship beyond sex. It doesn't seem like he's emotionally ready for that.

I love this song. Do not ask for more from him. she knew who he was and he's not going to change for her. He was honest with her accept me as I am.
He does love these women when he meet them a little bit even though he feel bad in the morning. I'm an older women.
A man being honest is great being love a little bit is good. It's when there is NO LOVE when it's bad.
