I think the song is a much darker. I think it indicates that the protagonist (character in the song) ended up killing his best friend in some sort of altercation that involved his woman, and now he is on death row - the "killing floor" in prison waiting to be executed for the killing of his friend. He is saying that if he had left the woman all of this would never have happened. Also, perhaps the phrase about going down to Mexico is relevant because he may also regret that he didn't flee to Mexico after the killing to avoid being arrested, prosecuted, and eventually killed himself.

They say ho's got the biggest balls. Talking about real hos, by the dollar hos, and shuts that get with many guys,, just because. they pretend to be so charming but they not, they pretenders and they compete, they just want your nuts. They would like to chop em off if they could. That's the killin floor. That's how you know. Because a good woman never gonna take you there, but thats the only place you be goin with a ho, lest you be paying by the dollar.

The killing floor is where a bad egotistical woman takes her man. She always be competing, and want to be superior, so she takes you to the killin floor, she emasculated you, humiliates you, and tries to make you feel tiny or dead, she be killing your ego, she's bad, worse than rot in the bones for her man. Bad women do this, they want to be the man, and they hate you for it, so they take you to the killing floor. You ever see a woman humiliate you in front of others like that, make you feel worse than dead, that's the blues, you get smart boy, and you run from a ho like that, run and don't look back. You take a lesson from howlin wolf, the Bible warns you.

Wolf's troubles with his wife. After coming back from a tour, Wolf's wife sent him out for groceries so she could ransack his tour bus. She found a pair of woman's underwear left behind by the excursions of one of his band members. His wife lost it and shot him full of buckshot as he returned. It tool days to remove it.

The killing floor is a place where animals are butchered. The artist is comparing his present dilemma as an animal on the killing floor. He regrets having not followed his first mind, or even listening to the advice of his best friend. Because the life with this woman is nothing but pure turmoil, and he sees that his dreams are starting to fade away.

He had the chance for a new life, but he stayed for the woman that he's sick of now. He's wishing he had left when he had the chance. We all have regrets like this. We all look back on the decisions we make and wonder: 'What if? " Life is that way sometimes.
