Grimes – Oblivion lyrics

I never walk about after dark
It's my point of view
If someone could break your neck
Coming up behind you always coming and you'd never have a clue

And now I'm left behind, all the time
I will wait forever, always looking straight
Thinking, counting, all the the other way

See you on a dark night... X3

And now another clue, I would have
If you could help me out
It's hard to understand
Cause when you're really by yourself, it's hard to find someone who

And now it's gonna be, tough on me
But I will wait forever
I need someone else to look into my eyes and tell me girl you know you
Gotta watch your health

To look into my eyes and tell me
La la la la la, la la la la
To look into my eyes and tell me
La la la la la, la la la la
La la la la la, la la la la

I see you on a dark night, uhh, aaa... X3

The song is about being that person in the background, who is screaming out for help silently. Saying how much she wishes someone would notice and in some way let her know they care. Losing that grip with reality, be it through drugs or pills or partying or just simply losing it, its that falling feeling. The bright colours in the video and the obsecureness of the whole song would imply the drugs being the reason for falling. The first verse is her basically saying how shes never noticed, and if she were to come up from behind, youd be so ignorant that she could break your neck. Its about how society just ignores the world around them and just see what they want to, how selfish they all are. All anybody wants is just that 1 person (hold your hand) to care for them, and for them to care for. Blaow.
