A 10 year old child, now grown up and aware, remembers a physical beating, bracing for the fist to hit. On impact, the childs bones break. The salty taste of blood is left in the childs mouth. Even though the shell or bones are broken, the grown child passes the blame onto the abuser. . This awareness allows an adult child who was once abused, to heal from the emotionl scars of the beatings. The scared memories of the childhood are reviewed with the abuser and passed on and now also belong to the adult abuser. . Typically an abused person apologises for being a victim as in this case the adult child apoligises for bringing up the memory. Falling and shedding skin symbolizes a rebirth as the child is knocked unconsious or to the ground.

I don't know how many people realize this but a lot of Flyleaf's music is Christian based. "Long December...Your hands coming down..." I think refers to the birth of Jesus. "I only noticed your face..." Her thinking of the abused and torture Jesus was subjected to. "Im shedding my skin... But its not time..." Eternal life, leaving the flesh behind. "My scars are Yours...You stood where I stand..." I think she's referring back to the death of Christ. Just food for thought, but after listening different songs from the band, that is definitely what I get from.
