The Beatles – Day Tripper lyrics
Got a good reason for taking the easy way out
Got a good reason for taking the easy way out now
She was a day tripper, a one way ticket yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out

She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there
She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there now
She was a day tripper, a one way ticket yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out

Tried to please her, she only played one night stands
Tried to please her, she only played one night stands now
She was a day tripper, a Sunday driver yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out

Day tripper
Day tripper yeah
Day tripper
Day tripper yeah
Day tripper

Lennon & Mccartney allegedly stated that this song was about a how (replace the w with an e here.) or something. And so maybe "taking the easy way out" was like, easy secs (purposely misspelled here). And that maybe "one way-ticket" was like, well you can have secs but you can't go back. And "she's a big teaser" probably meant. Well, if we're talking about secs here, I think you'd get the pattern. This is a very clever song. I like it, even if the hidden meaning is slightly innapropriate. This is just one theory though. I kindof browsed the internet beforehand to figure it out. :) But, I do think this would make sense as a theory. "Day Tripper, yeah..."

By the middle sixties, the beatles themselves said they were stressed out from live performances. Check out the cover of "beatles for sale. " the title alone says it all. Drugs -- the "big teaser" -- were the "reason for taking way out. " when they say it took them "so long to find out," it means that they found a way to escape the pressure they felt. And a little kid knows that a "sunday driver" is recklessness. Thus, the song means that they got involved with drugs, but used them recklessly.
