What did you think I would do at this moment
When you`re standing before me
With tears in your eyes
Trying to tell me that you have found you another
and you just don`t love me no more

What did you think I would say at this moment
When I`m faced with the knowledge
That you just don`t love me
Did you think I would curse you
Or say things to hurt you
`cause you just don`t love me no more

Did you think I could hate you
Or raise my hands to you
Now come on you know me too well
How could I hurt you when darling I love you
and you know I`d never hurt you-oo-wo-oo-o-o-o...

What do you think I would give at this moment
If you`d stay I`d subtract twenty years from my life
I`d fall down on my knees
and kiss the ground that you walk on
If I could just hold you again

I`d fall down on my knees
and kiss the ground that you walk on baby
If I could just hold you { pause }
If I, could just hold you { pause }

If I.........
If I could just hold you
Again

    This song is about a relationship that has ended on her part, she found someone else but just could not tell him, afraid of how he would react. He loved her so much but didn't have a clue of the demise of their love. He'll always love her, pleading with her to give him one more chance but it still ends. I think he's better off without her, if they were together when she "found" someone new, she was cheating on him. He needs to find someone deserving of his love and loyalty.

    Billy comes to the realization, like a slap to the face, that his woman no longer loves him. He says if she expects him to be mad or hurt her, then she doesn't know him at all. He continues to love her even if she doesn't love him. That is the definition of true love my friends.

    This happens all to often in life, when one person becomes to complasent and the other catches a spark from an outsider and falls before they let the other know leaving no time to make amens ,people need to tell the one they love how they feel it should never be an asumption they already know

    I heard this song as a kid back in the mid 80s and it stuck with me like glue. It's a special song. Even as an adult, i've been forced to come to understand it all the more. When my wife walked out.. This song was my theme music. Men, i've learned you can't make anyone love you. So if this song has you feeling that it is your theme song, get up, take a shower, and thank the good master he has someone better coming your way. It's her loss, not yours.

    This song has always had a special place in my heart since i first heard
    It 'back in the day', however 'at this moment'it has special meaning,
    Because my wonderful wife of 13 years, has requested that we divorce,
    And continue our relationship as friends. She was crying, and so was
    I, but i vowed when i married her, to make her happy, and i dont
    Do that anymore. I want her to be happy, more than i dont want to leave
    Her.
