This is a great love song about love between two people at the same time between many people, love that leaves cultural marks, the love that creates beautiful buildings for generations to see, love for children, for life blooms in the now when there is love in the moment. Like lovers who live an eternity in mere moments; the future haven't got a clue. It drops away. Doors open; heart sings. When you burn so brightly it burns, only love can heal such a wound!

Can only mean one thing to me. Lifting up the magificent one, the one creator of Love, the one who died for the world, giving up everything so we can spend forever, and forever with the precious one, the Lord God almighty who is knocking on our hardened hearts to be let in, and to reveal himself to us. I think that's what this song may mean, hope I'm right, but if not, then that's what it means to me everytime I hear this.

Bono has already admitted that the song is about the Blessed Virgin Mary. Every word of the song is Mary singing to Jesus. "I was born to be with you." "I was born to sing for you...I give you back my voice." Regarding her immaculate conception: "My first cry, it was a joyful noise."
