The Fray – Over My Head (Cable Car) lyrics

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
To say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and it's effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm over my head

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

I love this song and it means so many things but mostly it means a guy had some problems with people not accepting who he was and people he thought were his friends turned their backs on him and he just wanted someone to accept who he was and not be afraid of him I so wish peeps would just accept me but hopefully my life will turn around very soon I can kinda fell that somethings gonna change I now this sounds crazy but personally I think I'm slightly a little odd and really different from everyone else and I think someday that will be a good thing! Anyway love this song!

I listened to this song a lot, but it finally took losing a friend to get the real meaning.
It's talking about how its really hard to say goodbye. That he wishes it was easier and that it wouldn't hurt so much to leave them and just go. But its not easy and saying goodbye is the hardest thing ever and sometimes its too much to handle and your way in over your head.
This song makes me cry now. Cuz I never wanted to lose my friend becuz she meant the world to me, but I don't think the scars we have are going to heal.
