This guy is annoyed that his friend is spending more time with his girl than with friends hence: "over my head... 8 secoonds left in over time she's on your mind... " and that their friendship is being slowly destroyed by love... Their friendship is becoming the past: "and suddenly i become part of the past"...

I dunno that's how i interpret it

One of the things that inspired this song was when isaac's (one of the band members) brother, caleb, was asked to leave the band early on in the band's history. Just thought that i'd put that out there...

I listened to this song a lot, but it finally took losing a friend to get the real meaning.

It's talking about how its really hard to say goodbye. That he wishes it was easier and that it wouldn't hurt so much to leave them and just go. But its not easy and saying goodbye is the hardest thing ever and sometimes its too much to handle and your way in over your head.

This song makes me cry now... Cuz i never wanted to lose my friend becuz she meant the world to me, but i don't think the scars we have are going to heal.

I believe that this song means that he is having problems with either his friends or his girlfriend. He says they are just waiting for a cue or for him to slip up and they have something to tease him about. He just wants to bury the hatchet and to solve the problem easily and calmly.

Sounds like he was having problems with his girlfriend and he talked to his friend, but his friend just didnt want to help him with his problems. Then he got even more stressed/emotional and on top of that the girl ended up leaving him.
