I've seen it in my hands, burn in my heart
Seen it in my past, back in my home
But does it make sense to see her again?
I don't, know
I felt it for some time, and not at all
Poison in my head, god love hurts
I'm not looking for love, but it's hard to resist
I don't recall being this dead

She's the only one, lost the best I had
I found her in a dream, looking for me
This heart's on fire, I'll bring myself
Up to fall, and down again

These arms of mine
Don't mind who they hold
So should I maybe, Just leave love alone
You call out my name, for the love you need
But you wont find it in me

These arms are mine
Don't mind who they hold
You're made for me, and I'll leave love alone
You call out my name for the love you need
But you wont find it in me

I've seen it in my hands, burn in my heart
I found her in a dream looking for me.
But does it make sense to see her again?
I don't, know

I can see the end of what I begun
A tale of a love, come and gone
But now my love, no promises
I won't go, falling in love

This was a love from a long time ago, a love that was everything at the time, but time and wounds and disappointment have changed both people. He knows he can't love the same again, doesn't even want to, he's had to become a different person and he's comfortable with that, but seeing her brings back who he was. A part of him doesn't want to go there, doesn't want to ruin what was with what is.

I think this song is written from the persepective of the person in the relationship that was left. The person that was cheated on. And the person who did the cheating came back and wanted them again. There is so much to be mad about, terrified about, however it's not resistable to go back into the relationship.

My interpretation of these lyrics is that the song is about someone who has 'blown' their relationship with their previous partner ("she's the only one, lost the best I owned") through cheating ("these arms of mine don't mind who they own").

They know what falling in love feels like (Seen it in my hands, burns in my heart) and they recognize that it's happening again with a new person, but they can't allow themselves to fall in love because they are still too attached to the previous partner?

I think this is about someone who has been so cripplingly hurt that any relationship after, whilst perhaps meaningful at that moment in time, has been invalidated by how perfect and then ruined their previous relationship.

I think that this song is about someone who doesn't care about the person they're with. It isn't important to them who the person is - but as long as there's actually someone there.
My personal theory is that it is someone who has been so emotionally crushed by someone that they have lost all connection to feeling anything to anyone else.
