Taylor Swift – Speak Now lyrics
I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl

I sneak in and see your friends, and her snotty little family
All dressed in pastel

And she is yelling at a bridesmaid, somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry

This is surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream where I stand and say

Don’t say yes, run away now
I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the backdoor
Don’t wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out and they said speak now

Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play a song that sounds like a death march
And I am
hiding in the curtains
It seems that I was uninvited by your lovely bride-to-be

She floats down the aisle like a pageant queen
But I know
you wish it was me, you wish it was me
Don’t you?

Don’t say yes, run away now
I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the backdoor
Don’t wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out and they said speak now

So don’t say yes, run away now
I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the backdoor
Don’t wait or say a single vow
Your time is running out and they said speak now

I hear the preacher say speak
now or forever hold your peace
There’s the silence, there’s my last chance
I stand up with shaking hands, all eyes on me
Horrified looks from everyone in the room
But I’m only looking at you

I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl

Don’t say yes, run away now
I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the backdoor
Don’t wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out and they said speak now

And you say lets run away now
I’ll meet when I’m out of my tux at the backdoor
Baby I didn’t say my vows, so glad you were around
When they said ‘Speak now’

He who doesn't feel the essence of the true meaning of Speak Now is numb. Does he think that Taylor's songs are meaningless? No, he's wrong! Speak Now is my favorite song especially the lyrics:

"Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the backdoor
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out and they said speak now".

You can't please anybody. So hearing negative opinions about taylor's voice and how she writes her songs, I'm a bit hurt but it's their opinion and I have to respect it. But I strongly believe that Taylor Swift is way too awesome! See, who else could write a song about stopping a wedding and carrying out the groom as cool and as cute as this? Speak Now is totally amazing!

I don't think you should not listen to her songs if you don't like her, because 1st. I don't like her, but I still listen too her. And 2nd ya we shoodnt b saying bad things about her, you have a point but the thing is, you can't really say "you cant say bad things about taylor swift" until you really no her, and I like her songs but not her, so quit making a big deal outt it.

Twilightrules4ever. I must start by saying. Twilight does not rule forever. I hate twilight (no offense to you twilight lovers). Also, guess what, you chose to search these lyrics for some aparent reason, so you must have some joy for taylor. And if you don't like her, don't listen to her, and don't leave nasty comments about her. Keep it to yourself, because anyone looking up her lyrics and commenting on here loves her, and is going to ridicule you. Is she not allowed to write songs about apologies? Because all other artists are allowed to without being criticized. Don't call her stupid, she made a mistake and apologized for it. We all make mistakes, so get over hers. I think I'm done here.

Every song she sings is all about boys. I think that is a great way to blurt out how girls feel. Although maybe sometimes thing don't turn out right you have to keep going. I have learned that my crush came out to be one of my best guy friends. Whenever I felt bad because my friends ditched me, he stopped hanging with his friends once he saw me crying alone. Alot of times I think, "wouldn't girls like me fall for him? " well most of the time I wish my first dance would come already and he would ask me, but now that the fact he has a girlfriend, my worst enemy since kindergarten. Now he is still my friend and I relate to the song haunted. I have to go. Today he asked me out and I got to get ready :)

Super like this song. Somehow similar to what happened to me. But it was not my choice. Got into such situation without my full knowledge. Funny but true. Not all engaged couples are meant to be. God will lead us to the right person even if time and situation are against it, but destiny prevails. Though it may cause hurt for a while yet the ending is more better and best. ;)

Why did taylor write this song?
She has revealed that the story behind speak now is that one of her best friends found out that her high school sweetheart was getting married to a girl that didn't deserve him.
Taylor joked about having the two of them crash the wedding with her singing and playing her guitar. Although it never actually happened, taylor writes about how she finds the words "speak now or forever hold your peace" during a wedding to be extremely powerful. She thinks it represents a last chance to claim, to love, and to speak your mind. Her song could be encouraging us not to be afraid answer anything that calls like a "speak now".
