Everybody's waiting
Everybody's watching
Even when you're sleeping
Keep your e-eyes open

The tricky thing
Is yesterday we were just children
Playing soldiers, just pretending
Dreaming dreams with happy endings

In backyards
Winning battles with our wooden swords
But now we've stepped into a cruel world
Where everybody stands and
Keeps score

Keep your eyes open

Everybody's waiting, for you to breakdown
Everybody's watching, to see the fallout
Even when you're sleeping, sleeping
Keep your e-eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open

Keep your e-eyes open

So here you are
Two steps ahead, and staying on guard
Every lesson forms a new scar
They never thought you'd make it this far

But turn around
Oh, they've surrounded with
A showdown
And nobody comes to save you now
But you got something they don't
Yeah you got something they don't

You just gotta keep your eyes open

Everybody's waiting, for you to breakdown
Everybody's watching, to see the fallout
Even when you're sleeping, sleeping
Keep your e-eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open

Keep your eyes

Keep your feet ready
Heartbeat steady
Keep your eyes open
Keep your aim locked
The night grows dark
Keep your eyes open

Keep your e-eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open

Everybody's waiting, for you to breakdown
Everybody's watching, to see the fallout
Even when you're sleeping, sleeping
Keep your e-eyes open

Keep your eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open

Keep your eyes open
Keep your e-eyes open

For the hunger games, i've always thought it was like katniss at district 12 just hunting with gale and you know, playing and stuff but then one day, everything changes and she had to kill kids which is like the 'cruel world' part of the song and she has to 'keep her eyes open' otherwise people could get you and the whole 'waiting for you to fall' part is the capitol using the hunger games as some kind of like, celebration and entertainment. In like, general, she's just pretty much saying be aware.

This song is related to katniss, it explains how katniss has to always have her eyes open to fight,to protect and to become the mockingjay without failing. It is also telling how many people in the capitol and many people in district 13 is waiting to see which side will win, the capitol or the other districts.

I think this song is about opening your eyes to reality. When your a kid, you play without a care in the world. In the hunger games when katniss's father dies she has to stop playing to feed her family and face reality. She has to face it even more so when she takes her sister's place in the hunger games. She sees how cruel the capital is, and how unfair life is. Through the whole series katniss has to face reality. She sees who she really is, and who everybody else is. Things happen to her that we don't even dream would happen to us. I think she is a good example to everyone who has read the books, watched the movies, and hears her story. She may not be real, but that doesn't mean you can't admire her. I do, and obviously Taylor Swift does. Its so clear to see she was thinking about the hunger games when she wrote this song. I'm an aspiring writer, and i hope one day one of my story will make everyone feel how they do about the hunger games. Katniss, Taylor Swift, and this song, is truly amazing! So keep your eyes open, and maybe one day you'll have a story as amazing as the hunger games.

I think this song is saying not everyone gets a happy ending. Sometimes you just need to stop dreaming and wake up to reality. This is like a poem I once read saying there is always dreaming and waking in the dark. Relating to the hunger games, in the books Katniss realizes you don't always live a simple life. When she was small she first acknowledged this when her father died. When she is older there are many ways she awakens to reality. One of the biggest moments this happens is when she takes Prim's place in the hunger games. In the first book Katniss just wants to get the reaping over with and get back to normal life. When her sister's name is called she realizes in a more realistic way the world of Panem, where she lives, is a cruel place. This was the start of the rebellion which would soon lead to a new revaluation.

For me, it means that there's always strangers around us or people who will strike us at the back so we must be always ready and keep our eyes open... Or maybe it means that we have to accept that we live in real cruel world but we can always find a way to make it better...
