You were gone when we found you
You were practically surrounded, you were trapped
But the opposition stalled, their blood ran cold
When they saw the look of love in your eyes
Maybe the times we had, they weren't that bad
And everything else was part of the plan
We sang: "I don't know where we go from here"
This is the alpha, omega, beginning and the end
And we all just idolize the dead
So you were born, and that was a good day
Someday you'll die, and that is a shame
But somewhere in the between was a life of which we all dream
And nothing and no one will ever take that away
You had a love and that love had you
And nothing mattered, you were fine
And some will complain, they're just bitter, what a shame
They know that loving and losing is better than nothing at all
Maybe the times we had, they weren't that bad
And everything else was part of our path
We sang: "I don't know where we go from here"
This is the anthem, the slogan, the summary of events
And we all just idealize the past
ANd someday soon my friends, this ride will come to an end
But we can't just get in line again

I believe that the meaning of this song can be expressed in 4 letters:
Do whatever the f*ck you want, since you only have one life

Alpha is the first letter to the greek alphabet, and omega is the last, its the beggining and the end.

No meaning to be found, the whole song is an anthem to life, and how we should sieze the day.

    Carpe diem ;)

Alpha and omega can mean god but it can also mean the beginning and the end... Aka birth and death as they state in other lines of the song. I think this one is obvious, they're saying live life because we've only got one chance at it.

First dude, don't be a religious freak. Or rather, keep it to yourself; we're all entitled to our own beliefs. This song is about life. The "idolize the dead" part, in my opinion, refers more to how, usually, once one dies, that person is recognized and remembered more than in life. The "we can't just get in line again" part is obvious - we only live once, and once we die, we can't repeat. The song suggests that life and death are utterly meaningless unless you fill that life (the between) with worthwhile events. And that in-between is the best part of life that we will ever experience while we still have time on this earth, so we have to make the best of it.

This song is more about life than it is religion.
Someday, we'll all die, and we can't get in line again, so you had better make the best out of it. Nobody knows what's going to happen after it ends. When he says "this is the alpha, omega, beginning and the end" he means that the lives we live are all we know and all we have.
