When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

For those that say this is just about some friend helping another friend, the lyrics say "friends just can't be found". This is a meaning up to interpretation though-like beauty or humor, it is what it is in the eyes of the beholder

In my comment above I worded it "I thought of the feeling of getting older" and I related it to me and how it spoke to me. I too read where it said it started out as a "tiny hymn". I believe that and from reading these comments I know some don't. I purposely didn't say it means a certain thing. It just related to me in a certain way. It's strange how when you mention God, some get bothered. There really isn't any reason to though. I don't want to sing it any other way but about God. Audrey Assad sings this on YouTube. That's the version I love it relates to how I feel about God.

When I listened to the "silver girl" part I thought of the feeling of getting older like it's too late for me it reminds me of pushing that lie away and In God knowing we can push "aging" out of our way. I believe it's what the Bible refers to as "treading on serpents" the thought or feeling that your too old will stop you from everything! If the serpent or devil talked to Adam and even to Jesus, wouldn't he also speak to us often it's good to get that under our feet!

Bridge over troubled water to me helps me think of things. For example, how much we take people for granted or even life for granted. Classic song and i thoroughly enjoy it
