Words and Music by Rolf Harris

- peak Billboard position # 3 in 1963

SPOKEN: There's an old Australian stockman lying, dying. He gets himself up
onto one elbow and 'e turns to his mates, who are all gathered around and 'e says:

Watch me wallabies feed, mate
Watch me wallabies feed,
They're a dangerous breed, mate
So watch me wallabies feed
Altogether now!

CHORUS:
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down

Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl,
Keep me cockatoo cool
Ah, don't go acting the fool, Curl
Just keep me cockatoo cool
Altogether now!

(CHORUS)

'n' take me koala back, Jack
Take me koala back
He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac
So take me koala back
Altogether now!

(CHORUS)

Let me abos go loose, Lew
Let me abos go loose
They're of no further use, Lew
So let me abos go loose

Altogether now!

(CHORUS)

And mind me platypus duck, Bill
Mind me platypus duck
Ah, don't let 'im go running amok, Bill
Just mind me platypus duck
Altogether now!

(CHORUS)

Play your didgeridoo, Blue
Play your didgeridoo
Ah, like, keep playin' 'til I shoot thru, Blue
Play your didgeridoo
Altogether now
!

(CHORUS)

Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred
Tan me hide when I'm dead
So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde
And that's it hangin' on the shed!!
Altogether now
!

(CHORUS)

This song has a wild sense of humour and appears to be quite racist. I heard this song from "Wolf Creek 2" and it sounded a lot better when the sick freak of an actor sung it with his amazing rusty voice nehehehehe. You know this guy sang his song on the wiggles, think of the future generation and how they are going to be raised. Everyone complains about they are so ratty and I blame this song for the death of many. I R8 8/8 M8.

I think the guy had an outlandish zoo of animals. When he realized he was dying he tried to give his friends some advice how to tend to the business. He had taken care of all of them. It was now going to take one man for one animal. There was advice given for each animal. He wanted peace of mind before he died. But as always happens after you die you are no longer in charge. I think the got together and made a big stew and threw a party at no cost to them

This song brings me back to "Wolf Creek 2". Such a scary movie. Now this may be just my opinion but how could someone as nice as Rolf Harris create such lyrics such as this?! I mean he was in the wiggles for an episode for God's sake! But don't take my word for it as I am probably the most hated Pokemon character in the game.

I think there was this kangaroo who thought it was human but when it learned that, as a human, it had to die, it began to ramble on in an almost desperate manner as it knew not what to do. However, it becomes quite obvious that kangaroos don't believe in death and then it is difficult to understand if he is trying to save the kangaroo or the human (and who "he" is.)

Does it matter? It was a fun song when fun nonsense songs like this were popular. There are a few jokes and plays on words like "platypus duck bill" which was exactly how australia was seen in europe at the time. As for channeling harry belafonte and reggae, that was the wobble board, another bit of fun! The prime example of inappropriate music is "my boomerang won't come back", sung to a backing track that usually identifies red indians in cowboy movies.
    Its a bit of fun.
