Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why

Everything you touch surely dies

But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home

Only know you love her when you let her go

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
'Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast

Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
'Cause you loved her too much and you dive too deep

Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

And you let her go
Oh oh oh no
And you let her go
Oh oh oh no
Well you let her go

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

This song honestly describes my life. It is true that you do lose the ones you love but its how you cope with the loss. you don't know what you have until its gone and out of your reach. You wish you can get it back but it's the past and its not coming back. Your going to miss things no matter what happens, but sometimes you have to let things go and move on, its the meaning of life. you have to learn to cope with your failures, your greatness, and your ups and downs. It's how you keep going in life. you just have to push through it all and see where it goes from theere

This is an amazing song. It's all about how if you really care for someone(thing) you will be willing to part with it for it's betterment, so to speak. You shouldn't take anything for granted, for "sometimes in life, the things you love you lose" (Florence and the Machine).

I recently lost my husband of 44 years and this song, although I love it, makes me cry every time I hear it. However, I will continue to listen to it until the tears are replaced by joy from the memories I will carry with me for always and always.

To me, it is a song about a girl who fell in love with a man who happened to be not interested with her. He knew she loved him but he didn't seem to care. So she said goodbye and now he misses her, how she used to be and how she cares for him. I dunno, the line "Love comes slow but it goes so fast." He didn't notice her love until he is now the one who is feeling the "love" but she is now gone. Now he was sure that he loves her but she is gone. Sad story, they fell in love with each other on different time zones.

I like this song a lot, it reminds me of when my boyfriend said to me I really love you a lot but I have to break up with you I said why and he was like because I love you, I don't want to loose you baby but listen I have to break up with you it's for a good cause, he thought this other girl would be better for him but she really wasn't he came back a week later and said it wasn't a good cause I shouldn't have left you and I just go done listening to this song and said only know you love me when you let me go and he started tearing up when I walked away, he chased after me turned me around and kissed me p, he was crying by then, I could tell he actually loved me.
