Sun been down for days
A pretty flower in a vase
A slipper by the fireplace
A cello lying in it's case

Soon she's down the stairs
Her morning elegance she wears
The sound of water makes her dream
Awoken by a cloud of steam
She pours a daydream in a cup
A spoon of sugar sweetens up

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

Sun been down for days
A winter melody she plays
The thunder makes her contemplate
She hears a noise behind the gate
Perhaps a letter with a dove
Perhaps a stranger she could love

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
Where people are pleasently strange
And counting the change
And She goes...
Nobody knows

The title tells it all! Her morning elegance is when she's still in the twilight zone of her sleep and waking up when life is still full of promise and possibility but then the mundane events of life chip away at the potential of fulfilling those possibilities and promises with everyday being another chance at hope.

Well done, kathleen. And you're so right, my ears perk up at the sound of a mwdltoen; i don't assume it's a misbehaving child throwing a fit. And even it is, the parent and the child deserve compassion.

I like to think that it's about a woman with some form of social anxiety, or can't stand reality, so she takes refuge in daydreams. It's a gorgeous song; i'm thinking about singing it for choir this year.

A delightfully imaginative woman dreams about how her life shall unfold. Yet she doesn't make these thoughts known to many people as she likes to keep her dreams unblemished by people's thoughts and opinions. She remains a bit of a mystery to everyone but herself.
