I am the rival. I am the one who speaks in whispers.
Hear me now, dear, weak forgiver.
Hear me now, weak forgiver. Hear me now...
Don't send an angel to face the devil.
Your wasting power on grace. A maggot will always seek to feed from the grave,
Where I'll lead them and teach them to feast on the skin that defeats them, the skin they crave.
"If you could see like me you'd see you haven't won anything.
If you could see like me you'd see, it's by my grace that you're breathing."
If you could see like me you'd see you haven't won anything.
If you could see like me you'd see.
Every night I start my rise, climbing high into the morning sky,
But soon after I lose your bride and I damn your son for stealing my light.
This world is mine...
They call me the son of the morning.
I can mound all your fallen past the clouds as they roll in,
And when I do I will claim your throne through all these cowards you call your sons.
I am the lord of air and my dawn will last forever.
Go on pouring out because in the end I will have them.
"If you could see like me you'd see you haven't won anything...
If you could see like me you'd see, it's by my grace that you're breathing."
If you could see like me you'd see you haven't won anything.
If you could see like me you'd see, your precious light is fading.
Your light is fading.

This song is about deception. That lucifer, so filled with pride is in love with his own legend. Jesus went into hell and made a show of the devil, taking the keys of hell and death. He is now seated on the right hand of the throne of god.

Four below, you spelled 'won' wrong, you put it as 'one' just saying.
In this satan is giving out a false bravado, that he is bigger than god and that he can take his throne through 'the coward he calls his sons', or us, and reign, and to keep pouring out his love but that he will have us in the end, typical satan bull. The chorus is god trying to gently remind satan who he is, when he doesn't get the hint, in comes.. (*gasp* duhn duhn duhn).. The finisher!!!

The Verse is satan calling out threats to God-
The Chorus is God's response -
    satan has NOT WON ANYTHING
satan's own breath of depends on the grace of God
satan's pride keeps him from seeing that his own precious light is fading

The pride of satan - son of the morning - keeps him from seeing the truth that "you haven't won anything..." keeps him from seeing that by the Grace of God he is still breathing - that we are all still breathing - keeps him from seeing that his precious light is fading...

It is this pride in our own flesh that keeps us feeding and craving and leads as maggots back to the grave - the grave that Christ freed us from at the moment we believed.

Its saying that Satan(SOn of the Morning ) is foing to defeat Jesus. Well tough news Jesus already one and His light is getting brighter. They are blind and I pray they see
