Make waves, make waves, I'm sea, it's all you can take.
Come back, back down now, I'm drifting away, away!
Your ship's sunk. It's gone down, now your captain is dead.
Your saints become sailors, when my ocean is fed by these,
Bloody waters, Mark my words. Come on.

Alright I want you call to clap along and sing with me:
When I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair.
I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair.
When I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair.
I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair.

Salt your eyes, sleep with all the fishes.
The waves start the flood that's drowning yourself.
Broken, then we'll salt your eyes.
No wind, this sound.
Broken, then we'll salt your eyes.

Waves, make waves.
Back down, stop drifting away.
Come back, come back, it's all you can take.
We'll pour salt in your eyes.

I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair.

I think you are very right, and it also might be about people judging or criticizing him, and how if they come at him, he's gonna get dirty. Salt in the eyes? He'll throw everything you say to him right back at you with things that might offend you greatly. Captain is dead? If it's about his lifestyle, he might come back with insults or logic against the head of your belief or organization. And then once he's down and out, the people that believed in said head of belief aren't strong willed saints anymore, they're just people trying fruitlessly to survive the onslaught of insult or flaws that he'll put out. Waves start the flood that's drowning yourself? Help, you brought this upon yourself. You started by trying to come at him with criticism or judgement, and he just turns it right back onto you. Once everyone is down, it's sand in the face. (Salt in the eyes).

i think this song is about how he is an element ( water ) and he is the ocean and when he fights back your going to get the salt in your eyes along with its strength. as you would be burned if he fought back as fire.
