I never meant to hurt you but knew I someday would
It's like I built a cabin with matches between the wood
I'll be damned if I am happy and you will pay the price
Strong becomes the lion when he believes his own advice
I've got this one beat

I know it's empty in the open
Days apart from you
Ashes trace the skyline
And this burnout cabin too
I'll be damned if you forget me in this fire
I'll save your place
And keep it cool while I think of you
In the smoke I see your face
I've got this one beat; I've got this one beat
Rain come fall on me
Baby from the fallout hear me call out
I've got this one beat
Baby from the fallout hear me call out
I've got this one beat
In the fallout [X5]

Is this how it's gonna be?
Bending daylight here with me
I know the aftermath is harder that it seems
Is this how it's got to be?
In the fallout, the fallout, the fallout
I'm alone in the fallout

They say the sky is falling
Are the angels coming too?
I'm gonna catch them when they come
Catch them as they fall

Climb on top the tower, get me closer to the sky
I'll bring the memories back
And save them all for you
The fallout [X4]

You can hear me call out from that fallout
You can hear me call
Save me, save me from the enemy
Come save me, save me from these broken things

Okay, a lot of these lyrics are wrong, but I don't seem to have the option to correct them..
Anyway, this song is one of those songs that I really don't like to share with other people. I like to keep it to myself, and I listen to it at least once a week if it doesn't happen to come on my shuffle.
    This song is very self-explanatory.
"I never meant to hurt you, but knew I someday would. It's like I built myself a cabin with matches between the wood. I'll be damned if I am happy, and you will pay the price. Strong becomes the liar when he believes his own advice."
This piece of the song really reminds me of myself. This person feels that the pain he inflicted upon his partner was inevitable, and he saw it all coming, because he is a self-saboteur. The reason the pain is inevitable is because he feels that he does not deserve to be happy. He has been able to numb the pain of losing her with his lies, which have made him strong. He is trying to convince himself that things are not as bad as they seem, but "the aftermath is harder than it seems."
This song is called The Fallout, because it references nuclear warfare and its post-apocalyptic fallout. This song reflects the chaos of the common emotional fallout between two people. Something happened between them, that he feels he enroached unconsciously, and now he has never felt more far away from her. As he burns in the fiery pain of these mistakes he has made, his thoughts still turn to her. He is burning, and he can only hope that the rain may come, because that is the only way he can be saved. He is calling out to his lost love, hoping that she will answer his call. She is the only rain that will quench the fire that is enveloping him.
I don't know what "I've got this one beat" really means. Maybe it means that he only knows the one heartbeat that they both shared once upon a time. Maybe it means that he only knows this one way of living: perpetual pain.
This song is very vivid, and I love it. Yet, it also contains ambiguous lyrics- and can be interpreted in many (slightly) different ways, and I feel that the imagery, and the ambiguity makes this song beautiful. Five stars.
