Moulin Rouge – El Tango De Roxanne lyrics
(Spoken)
We have a dance!
In the brothels of Buenos Aries
Tells the story
Of a prostitute.
And a man... who falls in love...
With her
.

First there is desire
Then... passion!
Then... suspicion!
Jealousy! Anger! Betrayal!
Where love is for the highest bidder,
There can be no trust!
Without trust,
There is no love!
Jealousy.
Yes, jealousy...
Will drive you... mad!

Roxanne
You don't have to put on that red light
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it is right

Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
Roxanne
You don't have to sell your body to the night

His eyes upon your face
His hand upon your hand
His lips caress your skin
It's more than I can stand

(Roxanne)
Why does my heart cry?
(Roxanne)
Feelings I can't fight
You're free to leave me, but just don't decieve me
And please believe me when I say I love you

Yo que te quiero tanto, quй voy ha hacer
Me dejaste, me dejaste
En un tango
En el alma se me fue
Se me fue el corazon
Ya no tengo ganas de vivir
Porque no te puedo convencer
Que no te vendas Roxanne

(Roxanne)
Why does my heart cry?
(Roxanne)
Feelings I can't fight
(Roxanne)
You don't have to put on that red light
Roxanne
You don't have to put on that dress tonight
(Roxanne)

This is the best song in moulin rouge. Satine is a courtesan. (similar to a prostitute). The song roxanne is about loving a woman who sells her body for money. And even if she is true to you. The eventual jealousy will drive you mad. Adding christian's song into roxanne, then brings the idea of the song into the movie. You see his heartbreak. The anguish. The lost hope. Which, he should have known before getting involved with her in the first place. The argentinian's advice (roxanne) would have been most useful at the beginning of the movie. But it is soo incredibly powerful here. It is dark. It is s***. And it is about loss.

The song is about a man who falls in love with roxanne, a prostitute. The song warns against falling in love with a prostitute, as, he body will never truly be yours.
The lighter toned man in the song laments about how the girl deceives him about her lovers, and is jealous that she cannot be his and his alone. (unless he could pay to keep her.)
The rougher toned man explains that she walks the streets not because she has to, but because she can/wants to.

Well me and my friend began singing this at a young age and we thought it was the most beautiful thing about a carrot who falls in love with a courgette but they cannot be together because their onion uncles would disapprove as she has been on a waitrose advert. They think she is much to demanding for their courgette nephew so sing about it, but, then the carrot gets pregnant with a tomato and they say you mixed the fruit with vegetable. We do not believe in this so we sing about it, and yes me and my friend were the creators of this lovely tune.

In the movie, Christian, the one who sings the other song bedsides Roxanne, is in love with the famous prostitute, Satine. They both love each other, but an evil man called The Duke paid for her, so now she has to go to dinner with him and have s** with him. The other man, who is singing Roxanne, is just telling his story. Christian, who says he won't be jealous, is feeling jealous, and that is driving him mad.

El tango de roxanne tells a story of how you shouldn't fall in love to a prostitute becuase, be ign a prostitute, she is sure to cheat on you. The jelousy will drive you crazy and youu won't be able to stand it any more. It will drive to the point of seriously hurting you or yourself. But this feeling known as jelousy could be taken as two ways. It could be the sorrowful envy that sits in your sttomach like a pit, or it could be that anger tha you know won't soon eave you alone.
