Spotlight shining brightly, on my face
I can't see a thing and yet I feel you walking my way
Empty stage, with nothing but this girl
Singing this simple melody and
Wearing her heart on her sleeve

And right now
I have you, for a moment I can tell I've got you
Cuz your lips don't move
Something is happening
Cuz your eyes tell me the truth
I've put a spell over you

Beauty emanates from every word that you say
You've captured the deepest thoughts
In the purest, and simplest of ways
But you see, I'm not that graceful, Like you
Nor am I as eloquent
But just a simple melody
Can change the way that you see me

And right now, I have you
For a moment I can tell I've got you
Cuz your lips don't move
And something is happening
Cuz your eyes tell me the truth
I've put a spell over you

And all my life I've stumbled
But up here I am just perfect
Perfect as I'll, ever be

I have you, for a moment
I can tell I've got you
Cuz your lips don't move
And something is happening
Cuz your eyes tell me the truth
I've put a spell over you

To me this song is. It's about every person, in a way. At one point in time in our lives-some for a lot longer than others- we've felt lost. Simple, never one in a million. The reason this song can so easily connect to so many people is because at one point in time you've been this girl. It's a story easily shared about how we find our stage, take the spotlight and sing our hearts out. Each person has a different stage, the one place where they are set apart and truly become themselves when they are in that moment. There's no need for anything else in that moment, they can see you for who you are. It's in that moment in which the spell is cast, and the one who may have been blinded to that person's true self can finally see them in a new light. In their spotlight. And it's just, well, perfect.

I actually took this song to mean something much different then most. Almost anything these days remind me of my ex-fiance. When I heard the words "your lips dont move" it reminds me of how he is during the times we have to trade off custody of our son. It is like he is under some spell or trance where when he is in my presence he is frozen and plagued by anger. I can tell I have him for that moment and I am finally as perfect as I will ever be but he is under the spell I cast on him in the past.
During our years together I was plagued by a toxic very rare gentic blood disorder. It has a slew of painful and emotional symptoms that tore me down and eventually tore him down. He was sure I would never stay married to him, he said he needed to marry someone who would never leave, and he called off our wedding.
This all happened 6 months after my father was out for his daily walk, was mugged, and murdered for 40 bucs in his pocket. 6 months after my wedding was called off and my life was in pure hell I was diagnosed with aip which gave me a whole new lease on life. Once I started the blood transfusions the toxicity levels lowered and I could live and feel life again. The problem is he is still under my spell.
I have tried it all and I have tried nothing at the same time. I do not let go of hope but he is so gone.
