He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

We are healed by Your sacrifice
And the life that You gave
We are healed for You paid the price
By Your grace we are saved
We are saved

He was pierced for our transgressions
And crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

We are healed by Your sacrifice
And the life that You gave
We are healed for You paid the price
By Your grace we are saved
We are saved

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed
And by His wounds, by His wounds

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

His wounds are "his stripes," which, using the hebrew word, are physical bruises and wounds. And the hebrew word for "healed" also refers to physical healing. For me this means that jesus not only redeemed my spirit with his blood, but he redeemed the health of my body. Thanks to his sacrifice, I can have the physical health that adam enjoyed in the garden before the fall. If the spirit can raise jesus from the dead (and he did. Alleluia!), he can certainly heal any disease that tries to take over my body. Jesus conquered sin, and thereby its consequences, death and disease among them. I started my eternal life the day I accepted him as my savior and can have good health if I understand his power and unending love for me. By his wounds I am healed. Thank you, jesus!

This snippet from the song “by his wounds” is about how jesus suffered in such horrible ways to make up for our sins. In the line “by his wounds we are healed” shows that we are the ones healing from the wounds and pain inflicted upon him. It says that we needed him to take this pain for us to heal. This suggests that god loves us enough to let us kill his own child to make up for our sins.
