Los Panchos – No Me Quieras Tanto lyrics

Yo siento en el alma
Tener que decirte
Que mi amor se extingue
Como una paveza,
Y poquito a poco
Se queda sin luz.

Yo se que me quieres,
Cual palido cirio
Y se que te quiero
Que soy tu delirio,
Y que en esta vida
He sido tu cruz.

Ay! Amor ya no me quieras tanto
Ay! amor no sufras m?s por m?
Si no m?s puedo causarte llanto
Ay! amor olv?date de m?

Me da pena que sigas sufriendo,
Este amor desesperado.
Yo quisiera que t? encontras
De nuevo otro querer.
Otro ser que te brinde la dicha
Que yo no te he brindado
Y que pueda alejarma de t?
Para nunca m?s volver.

Ay! Amor ya no me quieras tanto
Ay! amor no sufras m?s por m?
Si no m?s puedo causarte llanto
Ay! amor olv?date de m?

This song is about the pain and sorrow we suffer telling someone who deeply loves us that their love is not reciprocated. We wish them well and hope that they will find someone to love who will love them equally in return. It is one of the saddest and beautiful songs I have ever heard.

As a child I heard it sung often by both of my parents. Past transgressions were never forgiven or forgotten. Though they loved each other deeply, they never achieved the level of trust and respect that is necessary to have a loving, peaceful relationship. When my mother died, they had been married for forty-six unhappy years.
