Toddler Anna: Elsa? (knocks)
Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on let's go and play
I never see you anymore
Come out the door,
It's like you've gone away

We used to be best buddies
And now we're not

I wish you would tell me why
Do you want to build a snowman?
It doesn't have to be a Snowman

Young Elsa: Go away, Anna

Toddler Anna: Okay, bye

Young Anna: (knocks)
Do you want to build a snowman
Or ride our bike around the halls?
I think some company is overdue
I've started talking to
The pictures on the walls
(Hang in there, Joan! )

It gets a little lonely,
All these empty rooms
,
Just watching the hours tick by
(Tick-tock tick-tock tick-tock tick-tock)

Anna: (knocks) Elsa?
Please I know you're in there,
People are asking where you've been,
They say "have courage";
And I'm trying to
,
I'm right out here for you
Just let me in

We only have each other
It's just you and me
What are we gonna do
?
Do you want to build a snowman? (sniff)

I feel as if this song is not only to the character Anna, but to anyone who had been shut out before. Some people who have can really relate to this song, and even start crying of happiness because someone or something understands them. I felt like crying because of my own reason, so I was really touched about it. Disney may not realize it, but they might of saved someone from being depressed or something worse. Thanks Disney.

I feel as if when Anna says do you want to build a snowman, not only does she want Elsa to stop leaving her out, but also to relive the times they've had. If only Anna knew of Elsa's powers that they might have been closer. Now Elsa at the end wants to come out, but Anna doesn't know about her powers anymore so she's scared that when they play Anna will find out. When Elsa fled the castle, I thought that Anna might have that vague memory on the tip of her tongue of Elsa's powers from long ago. Now that Anna found out, at the end of the movie they became much closer.

I think this song is about just missing her sister. Elsa is hiding away in her room so her powers aren't exposed, and Anna is trapped in the castle all alone because they refuse to open the gates. Anna is lonely, and when Elsa was still 'outside', her and Anna loved to build a snowman! When Elsa runs away for fear of losing everything she had, she rebuilds Olaf, the name of the snowman her and Anna named when they were kids, because she didn't want to let Anna's presence go. She has to live alone but she needs her sister.

It's about not having the confidence in oneself to step into the light and receive the attention you deserve. Your art succeeds even though those around you beat you down and know nothing of your accomplishments. Even after watching your art soar to the moon and back you still don't have the confidence to leave the anonymous lifestyle you live. It's about making others succeed just for the sole purpose of and keeping favorites. It's about giving your soul away and keeping nothing back for yourself and becoming very depressed after the fact. You realize in quiet time what a fool you are and everyone would think you the same.
The search and impossibility to reconnect leaves you further depressed
and invisible lying in a pit of regret and darkness. I would love to make friends who understand me but I live in a sea of judgmental people.
