Kamelot – III Ways To Epica lyrics

When you play with fire
You must anticipate some burns
Chasing for desire...
It's just a different way to learn

Ariel: I am defected from God
Helena: God has seized my soul
Ariel: So low redemption's too far
Helena: I am heane's sheen
Ariel: She's the one that I loved
Helena: Love is all we know
Ariel: And she tore me apart
Helena: The dark can never win

All that I require
Is some trust as pages turn
I can take you higher
'Cause your will is my concern

So long... Maybe forever
I must carry on
Why did God take away
The one thing I wanted
Maybe God is a melody
We all serenade

You would not feel sadness
If you never tasted joy
That's the curse of humans,
Born in passion you destroy

This song is the conclusion to the first half of faust. Ariel has since discovered in a dream that helena has drowned herself in the river along with their unborn child. At this climax, mephisto is trying to rationally dismiss helena's death in a threatening manner to ariel, as he still is bound to his deal. This song sets the mood for the ultimate realization that ariel is now alone and distanced from god. Helena continues to encourage him from heaven that all is not lost. The focus of this song is to me the final words of mephisto: 'you would not. Born in passion, you destroy'. Now, ariel is utterly alone and at the mercy of mephisto's control.
