Judds – Grandpa lyrics
Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Sometimes it feels like this worlds gone crazy
Grandpa, take me back to yesterday
When the line between right and wrong
Didn't seem so hazy

[Chorus:]

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away
Oh, grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days

Grandpa, everything is changing fast
We call it progress, but I just don't know
And grandpa, let's wander back into the past
And paint me the picture of long ago

Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other come what may
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say and then forget
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away
Oh, grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Oh, grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days

To me Grandpa tells me about the love she had for her Grandparents and loved for him to tell her about the good old days and asking him about what good family morals mean and how families should be and how things have got off tack in this world and how families don't spend time together anymore and that we should pray like we fight out loud and in public and that families need to stay together and show our love and she wants her family to be like that of her grandparents!

Just what it says, this world has gotten way off track of what god intended. When two people, 1man and 1 woman, fell in love and committed that was it, no matter what they stuck it out just like they said in their vows and promised each other. Daddy was the head of the house and led his family in prayer and his word was as solid as iron. The more our technology progresses the worse things get in this cray world.

This song reflects on the love, respect and loyalty that individuals once had for their family and themselves. A loved that went beyond self, putting family and the best interest of others ahead of our own selfishness! Children felt the love and security of dad and mom and enjoyed the simpler things in life! Children grew up with a sense of what is really important in life 'family' and our committment to it!

Love this song! Talks about the good old days, where marriage was sacred for better or worse...for life. A promise was a promise, deals were sealed with a hand shake. Honesty and respect ruled the world. God was 1st, then came family; and all sat down together for dinner and prayed to God, giving him thanks...those were the good old days.
