It doesn't matter if he is or isn't saying that he wants to get stoned. The line "Who Says I Can't Get Stoned" stands out the most. He says it 6 times and it is the most repeated line. I love the song, but I'm going to dedicate it to the woman who never tried taking care of me, or loving me and just left, the person who was always on the couch, half dead and stoned, my mother.
I don't think John Mayer is saying he wants to smoke pot. All he is saying is that who is to say I can't do anything. Don't matter if it is legal or illegal. It might rub people the wrong way just cuz of da reference to getting stoned. People only judge the outside of a song rather than the true meaning. In some way songs are like people an people are like books. An everyone know u can't judge a book by its cover. Love the song. Keep making good music!
