This world is not my home I'm just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you
If heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
I have a loving mother just over in Gloryland
And I don't expect to stop until I shake her hand
She's waiting now for me in heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Oh Lord you know...
[ guitar ]
Just over in Gloryland we'll live eternaly the saints on every hand are shouting victory
Their songs of sweetest praise drift back from heaven's shore
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
Oh Lord you know... [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/j/jim_reeves/this_world_is_not_my_home.html ]

It means the world is just a transition zone from where we shall enter into eternity, which has two eternal homes, heaven and hell. Each one of us passing through this world would spend eternity in either heaven or hell someday, sometime.
My dad chose this song 20 years ago to be sang at mom's funural. 48 days short of mom's 20 year anniversary, we lost our dad. Needless to say this is the song we chose for dad too, and it was sang by a very dear friend and co-worker, lester macpherson. This song will always have a special meaning to me. Love you and miss you very much mom &dad (raymond&myrtle campbell) your daughter, deborah
