Hearing your words out of my mouth again
Leaves me stuck with the key to
All these reasons you got in my head again
Buried here inside of me
Return all of this to sender
The mirror spoke to me and showed
All of this pretending is catching up to me
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Staring out and over my words again
Makes me start to believe that
Wearing your lies over these words of mine
Always feels like my mistake [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/j/janus/eyesore.html ]
Return all of this to sender
The mirror spoke to me and showed
All of this pretending is catching up to me
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Nothing is more important
Than what people think about you
The worry, the wonder... it's all worth it
Return all of this to sender
The mirror spoke to me and showed
All of this pretending is catching up to me
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Lights out, wake up, stay calm, decide
Reach up, stand or be an eyesore
Whoa. I heard this song a long time ago, and now seeing the lyrics for the first time, it has a whole new meaning. Somehow it has gone from epic to legendary.
I've been listening to this song on repeat for the longest time. I couldn't understand it either... But as i started really thinking about it and writing out the lyrics, it seems to be not only about drowning in a sea of your own lies, but as well as not being a poseur or a follower.. However you'd want to put it. "stand or be an eyesore".. The "majority", not based on race, but based on the "popular group" is an eyesore if you really think about it.. If you decide to stand, then you won't be what you don't want to be: an eyesore.
At first, i was puzzled by the meaning of this song. It just didn't make sense. But i think i'm starting to put the pieces together now. In my opinion i think that this song is about a person drowning in their own pool of lies. "hearing your words out of my mouth" based on my guess, i believe that this line means that your living another persons life, your following someone elses rules and not your own. "return all of this to sender. The mirror spoke to me and showed. All of this pretending is catching up to me. " following up, this means that the person whom the song is about is finally making a decision to live his own life and is returning all what wasnt his back to who was playing his life. The mirror is symbolzing his innerself, a sign of rebellion that he needs to break out because all of the lies about himself are starting to take over.
