Up on melancholy hill
There's a plastic tree
Are you here with me
Just looking out on the day
Of another dream

Well you can't get what you want
But you can get me
So let's set up and see
'Cause you are my medicine
When you're close to me
When you're close to me

So call in the submarine
'Round the world will go
Does anybody know
If we're looking out on the day
Of another dream

If you can't get what you want
Then you come with me

Up on melancholy hill
A manatee?
Just looking out on the day
When you're close to me
When you're close to me

When you're close to me

Melancholy hill is a sad place. 2-d (the gorrilaz lead singer) is currently sad that noodle, a friend of his, apparently died (but might still be alive, and the video confirms that she is), and misses her greatly. Its a bit hard to really describe the video, but thats my basic interpretation

Ok I may be wrong but I think this song is about someone who really likes to be with someone (his girlfriend or something) and he's trying to get away to meloly hill with her it must be nice. Like he's really happy to be with her
