Gorillaz Empire Ants lyrics

Oh, joys arise, the sun has come again to hold you
Sailing out the doldrums of the week
The polyphonic prayer is here, it's all around you
It's all around you out here

And if the whole world is crashing down on you
Fall through space, out of mind with me
Where the emptiness we leave behind on warm air rising
Those are the shadows far away
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/g/gorillaz/empire_ants.html ]
The falling of the whole empire, it's here to hold you
Rolling out and haunted till it sinks

Little memories, marching on
Your little feet working the machine
Will it spin? Will it soar?
My little dream working the machine

Soothe like a wave
And crash far
Closing in on the moon
And who we are

Little memories
Your little feet working the machine
Will it spin? Will it soar?
My little dream working the machine

Soothe like a wave
And crash far
Closing in on the moon
And who we are

It's about us, who are we in fact but an empire of ants that keeps moving and kicking and feeding the machine of dreams so that the empire doesn't fall? But it will eventually fall to destruction when we realize the scam.

I make priests come into my house and pleasure me with a feather duster...

Unfortunatly, the original intent of damon albarn, who created the gorillaz, was for there to be lyrics that sounded cool, but really carried little to no deeper meaning. While that was subverted, to a point, as the project went on, one can only do so much analyzing of gorillaz lyrics. That being said, it is clear this song has a consistent theme that's almost apocolyptian in nature. Refrences are made to a sort of prayer and rapturous state in the first verse, and those, classically in many mythologies, preceed, to put it bluntly, the end of the world. Continuing in the song, we are given more lyrics and images of things falling, with refrences made to empires and later, of doing repetitious work that could be said to be of the style of work in factories, which is somewhat of a subtheme throughout the album. After the stylistic transition midway through the song, we are presented with images of crashing water, 'machines', and a general theme of destruction of civilization and contraptions that will allow for later rebirth.

Its an analagy on how and what the fridge magnet industry back from the nineteenth century was like. More specificly its a story about a small man who was so opressed by the magnetic field of earth that one day all of his chemical bonds broke free making a huge blinding light that was enjoyed by many who would live on to pass that knowldge on to thier chlderen and so on...

I tink it means tat all the ants in the mongolian empire sgould be eliminated and sent to mars if we cannot destroy them all but only if we want to because sometimes our dreams will takes us somwere else and we wont feel like building da mashines to shoot dem into mars :d

Your mom tries to satisfy a battalion of rape thirsty mongolian huns using only her left hand and half a tub of crisco. She succeeds and jesus wept tears of joy!

Reminds me of the short story and movie "empire of ants" by h. G. Wells. It's pretty melancholic to me. Kinda reminds me of my highschool years...
