I think Sonny's trying to tell us something on the lines of. He used to go to the sea, when he discovered he was adopted. And at the end of of the song where he sings "Breathing is the hardest thing i do" shows us how much it has affected him.
But thats what i thought, it's kinda hard to explain. O.o
