Fall Out Boy Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet lyrics

Mr. Sandman showing his beam
When he walks into the room the walls lean in to listen
Surfed out brain waves flick back and forth like old headlights sniffing model glue again
Head like a steel trap
Wish I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't
I don't just want to be a footnote in someone else's happiness

Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?
Does he know the way
Does he know the way
Of the crickets that would convince me to call it a night?

But I will never end up like him
Behind my back I already am
Keep a calendar, this way you will always know
The last time you came through
Oh darling I know what you're going through
The last time you came through
Oh darling
Oh darling
Oh darling...

Aw
Tempest in a teacup
Get unique
Peroxide princes shine like shark teeth
It's a sign (it's a sign)
It's a sign (it's a sign)
It's a sign-what if you peaked early?

Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?
Does he know the way
Does he know the way
Of the crickets that would convince me to call it a night?
Does he
Does he know the way I worship
Our love?
Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?

But I will never end up like him
Behind my back I already am
Keep a calendar, this way you will always know
The last time you came through
Oh darling I know what you're going through
The last time you came through
Oh darling
Oh darling
Oh darling...

Does your husband know?
Does your husband know?
Does your husband know?
Does he know, does he know, does he know? Oh oh...

But I will never end up like him
Behind my back I already am
Keep a calendar, this way you will always know
The last time you came through
Oh darling I know what you're going through

I'm going to have to agree... They are making a great comeback. They are completely infamous for their super long song titles too.

I don't know about all the lyrics, but i can shed some light on the title:

Cooperstown is where the baseball hall of fame is located. Pete rose, who was famous for sliding headfirst into bases, was banned from baseball for betting on games.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Headfirst slide into cooperstown on a bad bet. Sounds to me like the girl was coming through cooperstown where the proverbially the lyricist, she became involved with the man, despite being married... He's got a love triangle going. But she goes back home, to her husband only returning later "last time you came through, oh darling i know what you're going through. " really, refers to her being in town "cooperstown" again.

?

I think the title is referring to the girl's reason for being there. I think the sandman intro verse refers to the lyricist dreaming lucidly and waking up in a stutter of realizing "i didn't, i didn't... I don't. "
crickets could be literal, as he hears them as trying to sleep and wishes to be with her. "behind my back i already am" would imply he had a failed marriage. Keep a calendar, would well refer to the notion that she comes into cooperstown on business or some sort of arrangement.

I absolutely love this song.

One thing about fall out boy is that they don't want everything to be blatant and obvious. They want you to think. And sometimes you need to look at the lyrics from a different perspective to see what they're about. Mewlover13542 said what this song's about perfectly. "does he know the way to worship our love? " means the love triangle, and that the husband may not be as in love with the woman as he previously was, or the woman is cheating and loves the other man more.

'i will never end up like him, behind my back i already am' might mean that he truly does love the woman, but what's life without a little expirimenting? A little change every now and then? Everyone has to have a little mysterious or rebellious side to them, right? And even if he gets the girl in the end, would that change anything?

So, with fall out boy, not everything is as it seems. It may not make sense until you look at it differently, hear it with a new set of ears, so to speak. All in all, fall out boy is more than the tabloids perceive them to be, and that's what i love about them.

Xxxdarknessxxx; this song has to do with someone loving a certain person, but the person's already taken. And with the, "darling, i know what you're going through" part, it's the someone talking to the person about a problem that the person has. Maybe unhappiness, or something. "the last time you came through", the someone's probably talking to the person about how her husband, or boyfriend got mad at her because he thinks she's cheating, and show she got through the fights.

But, over-all, this song talks about a love triangle, basically.

And the song title... They never really do relate to the song, as it seems, but the title itself makes perfect sense if you're a baseball fan. Cooperstown in a place in new york, possibly where baseball originated, and there was a baseball player who, on home-runs, had a popular thing of diving headfirst onto home base after the run was done. The bad bet part had something to do with the baseball players career, i believe. By the way, the only reason i got this assumption was because we had to look up and do a one-page report on a certain sport in school, and during my research, i read about the whole thing. Then, as i was reading, i began to piece together how the title would make sense, and i ended up with that.

So, yeah. You have to think about most things having to do with any of fob's songs or titles before you fully understand them. That's what i love about fob's music. They always make it interesting, and i hate it when thinks are so apparent. ;]

Okay, i love fob. I love this song. But i don't think it really has a point... And neither does the title... Which isn't new to me... Not a lot of their song titles have anything to do with the actual song...

This is the best song on the cd. He's talking to a married woman who's cheating on her husband, with him i guess, and he's trying to convince himself he won't get cheated on but he knows deep down that it will happen eventually.

'does he know the way you worship our love'
about-to-marry girl still in love with former love, and husband (actually husband-to-be) doesn't suspect
