I love this song. She is singing about herself. She's beautiful, she's popular, funny, smart, and everyone loves her. But it's all a lie. They don't really love her, they love her reflection. They love the mask she wears. They love the person that they think she is. On the surface, what she allows them to see is almost perfect. She is always being told how strong she is, but she knows she's not. "oh how we love you,
no flaws when you're pretending. " she knows she's not even close to perfect. She knows that inside she's a mess. She hates herself. She hates herself so much that she doesn't even want to look in the mirror or look at pictures of herself. She feels unloved, misunderstood, and even angry. She is tired of the lie. In the video, she breaks the mirror. She doesn't see herself as she is in her reflection. She doesn't recognize the girl in the mirror. She lives with so much pain and so many deep scars that she doesn't understand how her reflection can be so pretty. She is strong on the outside, but weak and vulnerable on the inside just like everyone else. She smiles on the outside and screams on the inside and it tears her up that no one notices. To her no one notices because no one cares. They are so in love with her fake self, that they would be appalled by her real self. It's not that she's ugly inside. She isn't. She's a good person, but she's not the person they think she is. She hides her pain behind her smile. She's been hurt bad but no one knows. She keeps it all inside. She is afraid that if she showed her true self, no one would love her. So she keeps it up because this fake love is all she really has. The only time she is herself is when she is alone. She never smiles when she's alone. She cries a lot. She has created this fake self to mask the pain and it worked for a long time. But it doesn't anymore, it's just become too much for her. She feels like her real self only exists to her now and if she died everyone would mourn not her but the image of her. No one really knows her. She knows she's not real, but she's got everyone fooled. And, it is herself that has betrayed herself by allowing this to happen.

I love how people can put a label on a band. To me, this is not sad at all. It's rage, hate, anger, atleast to me. By how she's angry about how she'll let anyone change her just to fit in and be like every other person. She hates how she can't be herself. And she ends up hating herself for what she's became. A fake. I can understand this song so well, because i used to change just to fit in and let people tell me what to wear and how to act. One day i just stopped and realized it was one big lie that i was living.

If i didn't know any better i'd think this song was about her daughter that she lost... I mean the whole cliche about never was and never will be, just like defines how her daughter never had the chance to truly live. And also how she has to hide behind a facade, it's all written within most of her music, this song is just right on it. Explaining everything. Finally! The entire fallen cd is awesome. I just got it for christmas and i haven't stopped listening to it. I honestly don't plan to either. My favorite song on the cd is either imaginary or hello. They both have really deep meaning. That's why i love amy lee and her music.
