How long will I love you?
As long as stars are above you,
And longer if I can

How long will I need you?
As long as the seasons need to
Follow their plan

How long will I be with you?
As long as the sea is bound to
Wash upon the sand

How long will I want you?
As long as you want me to,
And longer by far

How long will I hold you?
As long as your father told you,
As long as you can

How long will I give to you?
As long as I live through you,
However long you say

How long will I love you?
As long as stars are above you,
And longer if I may

We're all traveling through time together
Every day of our lives
All we can do is do our best
To relish this remarkable ride

Is this line the official lyrics?

"How long will I want you
As long as you want me to
    And longer by far"

I wonder if its actually "as long as you want me to" in the CD booklet. Its interesting to determine is the line is "as long as you want me to" or if its "as long as you want me too"

I think it might be a different kind of heartbreak when someone no longer wants you to want them or be in their lives at all compared to when someone just can't love/want you the same way you want them but still wants to be in your life.

Either way the song responds with "and longer by far," meaning no matter the circumstance love knows no difference and you'll still want the person.

This song says everything I feel - I lost my horse just before Christmas, she had to be put down as she had a cancer. I had her in my life for 15 years and she had been through many traumatic times of my life with me, always making me forget everything when I rode her and also making a 40 something women feel like a teenager again as we flew round show jumps or cross country, laughing and feeling free. Each time I hear the lyrics I know shes still around and I remember her with more emotion than I could put in words! RIP Missie and thank you Ellie!

I do not have the answer to your question, but this song strikes me as one of those "I will love you no matter what" songs. This leads me to believe that the appropriate line would be "As long as you want me to" because using "too" would, for me, indicate a sense of selfishness.

I would also interpret the lyrics as the kind of "I will love you no matter what" songs and thats why it indeed should be "as long as you want me TOO. As the first person wrote here, you have to consider the third line, too.

"How long will I want you
As long as you want me to
    And longer by far"

I will want you as long as you want me too (meaning: as long as you are in love with me), but I will still want you, even after you don't want me anymore.
