Sitting on a carousel ride without any music or light.
Everything was closed at coney island, and i could not help from smiling. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/death_cab_for_cutie/coney_island.html ]
I can hear the atlantic echo back roller coaster screams from summers past.
And everything was closed at coney island, and i could not help from smiling.
Brooklyn will fill in the beach eventually and everyone will go except me.

Hmm ben gibbard is a true genius and his lyrics are so vague! Lol. Anyways i believe that maybe he had a bad experience with something and hes using coney island as a metaphor and maybe lets say hes scarred from a traumatic experience and happy its finally crumbled. It could be that in more of an assumption that he is just sitting their and remembering memories and life and for some reason has a reason for a final reminiscent so he can end it all hence the lyrics "everybody will go except me" i truthfully think im over thinking it but if im right i think that would fall right in along with death cabs previous songs "depressing",(dcfc fan girls and boys don't diss my previous description) but i think its beautiful. Sorry you had to listen to a fifteen your possibly over think a song but that's my opinion :)
