It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When i'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

I've always loved this song. But in listening to barry manilow's gorgeous and tremendous adaption and performance of it, i began to think of how i feel when i'm writing.

When i "sail" to my canvas, which is a blank page, the words take me anywhere i want to go in "never never land". And for those moments in time, no matter what's happening around me, i'm free to dream and find "serenity" as i write my own story.

Returning to "sanity" isn't difficult, i have kids, they pull me back. But i'm refreshed and ready to take on the world - or at least cook dinner!

Thank you for this wonderful song!

I never thought this song had anything to do with boating. It's an escape, a few minutes to dream, fantasize and get away... In your head. Escape from reality. Best christopher cross song he ever did.
