Im so thirsty, I can feel it
Burning through the furthest corners of my soul
Deep desire, can't describe this
Nameless urge that drives me somewhere
Though I don't know where to go
Seems Ive heard about a River from someone whos been
And they tell me once you reach it, oh, you'll never thirst again
So I have to find the River, somehow my life depends on the River
Holy River, Im so thirsty
Other waters Ive been drinkin
But they always leave me empty like before
Satisfaction, all Im askin
Could I really feel this thirsty if there werent something more?
And Ive heard about a River from someone whos been
And they tell me once you reach it, oh, you'll never thirst again
So I have to find the River, somehow my life depends on the River
Holy River, Im so thirsty
Im on the shore now of the wildest River
And I kneel and beg for mercy from the sky
But no one answers, Ive gotta take my chances
Cause something deep inside mes cryin

It describes having the knowledge about God, but not knowing how to reach him. It's as if we're burning away. Something satisfies us, but only briefly. It never ends up being quite enough, and every time we miss, somehow we feel the pain of being empty more and more acutely. It's not as if other things are bad, and the other waters satisfy for a period of time, even if it's short, but in the end, there's still always something lacking, and we just have to keep trying to reach God, even if the results of not finding him are disappointing. Then. I think at some point, there'll be one final point, somewhat like what happened in C. S. Lewis's book, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, where we just have to finally give up our whole selves, or just fade away from the sheer number of times we've missed Him, and we'll finally find him, and be completely satisfied. Not just satisfied, but with complete integrity, or wholeness of being.

I am thirsty for god. He is the river. I search for it, someone tells me about it, and when i find it, there's no halfway. I just have to throw myself into him and let him take over my life.
