Carrie Underwood – Blown Away lyrics
Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Daddy was mean ole mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down

There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house

There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

[Bridge:]
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
(Blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door flown away
(Flown away)
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away,
Blown away,
Blown away,
Blown away,
Blown away

There's a teenage girl (carrie underwood) and she was abused by her alcoholic father. Her mother was sweet and nice as it says on line four. She was dead now. A twister came and blew away their house, though the bad memories from their house were not forgotten. She doesn't bother to try and wake her father up since it was "sweet revenge" that she would live and he would die. This was themed on the movie & book " the wizard of oz"

The meaning I got from this song is that Carrie Underwoods mother was abused by carries dad and a twister came and her dad was unprotective and Carrie took shelter and her dad was not waking up and so Carrie got "sweet revenge" on her dad for killing her mother so that was his fault wasn't it.

She has a rough life and lives in a house chocked full of sins. One day a storm comes and blows everything away. But only literally. The bad memories never got shattered. And when I the storm did come and her dad didn't wake up, I don't think she tried to save him or wake him up, but went by herself directly to the shelter, because at the end of the line it said that she called it "sweet revenge".

The mean of the song to me, it was about carrie giving her feelings to the father in the video. The father in the video was a jerk, and a abusive I am thinking, she was very tired of it, handling him on her own, her mother passed away, and so she got a twister, she tried to save him, then yeah that's the meaning to me, it's a very good song, hated the video.

What I got from this song was that somehow this girl, (weather it's supposed to be Carrie or not, I do not know) her father abused the mother, consequently killing her. The father's a drunkard and one day a storm hit and the girl left the father on the couch, passed out, to the storm that 'shattered every window', revenge for killing the mother.
Or at least that's what I think it means.
I like the song because of the powerful chorus and that it makes me appreciate how good my life is. I've only just noticed I'm on the 'awesome! ' Bar! Lol!

Omg some of you are very thick. It spells it right out in the song. He was a mean drunk, the mother was gone. A twister was coming, he was passed out on the couch. She didn't wake him up to warn him or get him in the cellar. She put herself down there and locked the door so he couldn't take shelter and let him die in the twister. Sweet revenge. It's not rocket science.

I believe that the meaning of the song is her mother passed away and her father is an alcoholic and doesn't have time to raise her. She wants sweet revenge for all her fathers alcoholism as a twister blows down she hides in the cellar so she gets all the horrible memories out of her mind and she can start a new life! I totally love this song and it totally makes lots of since to name the song "blown away. "

A young daughter has seen the death of her protector -- her mom -- quite likely at the hands of an abusive and alcoholic father. The abuse passed along to her, and in an instant, all her prayers for a new beginning and a chance for happiness are answered. A tornado rips through the house, with her father being the unprotected one. At the mercy of mother nature. Her painful memories, as well as her abusive father and that house of evil, are swept away in the debris of the tornado. /mli.
