Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Daddy was mean ole mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

[Chorus]
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

[Chorus]
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

[Outro]
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window till it's all blown away,
(Blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door flown away
(Flown away)
Till there's nothing left standing,
Nothing left to yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away

I llived in abuse for years and this song seems to mean to me that even if the house were all torn apart the pain would still be there.

She has a rough life and lives in a house chocked full of sins. One day a storm comes and blows everything away... But only literally. The bad memories never got shattered. And when i the storm did come and her dad didn't wake up, i don't think she tried to save him or wake him up, but went by herself directly to the shelter, because at the end of the line it said that she called it "sweet revenge".

There's a teenage girl (carrie underwood) and she was abused by her alcoholic father. Her mother was sweet and nice as it says on line four. She was dead now. A twister came and blew away their house, though the bad memories from their house were not forgotten. She doesnt bother to try and wake her father up since it was "sweet revenge" that she would live and he would die. This was themed on the movie & book " the wizard of oz"
