This is an anthem, so fucking sing
A dedication to the end of everything [X2]
Someone call an ambulance, I got wounds to attend
Someone call a doctor, I fear this is the end
This happens all the time
This happens every day
But I never seem to quit
The wolves never stay at bay
I hate to say I told you so, but fuck it, I told you so
Don't say a word, I already know
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
A dedication to the end of everything [X2] [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/bring_me_the_horizon/anthem.html ]
Someone call an exorcist and help me kill this curse
I can't stop the bleeding and it's only getting worse
This happens all the time
This happens every day
(But I) But I never seem to quit
The wolves never stay at bay
I hate to say I told you so, but fuck it, I told you so
Don't say a word, I already know
I already know
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
A dedication to the end of everything
Get the fuck up
This is it, the sound of giving in
Yeah, get the fuck up
This is it, The end of everything
Tastes so bitter, feels so sweet
Lost in a dream, never fell asleep
Tastes so bitter, feels so sweet
I've come back to old remedies
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
A dedication to the end of everything [X2]
To the end of everything
This is an anthem, so fucking sing
A dedication to the end of everything

This is the true meaning of anthem and it by far is the perfect dedication of everything

This song means anger and pain displayed through a congregation of people wanting to be different :)

It's actually like lots of this album about how religion harmed him and made suicidal and hurt him as a person, there is also another indicator if you listen through the end of the song to words spoken by a girl.

This is the story of my life. It happens all the time.
Someone call an ambulance, i got wounds to attend
someone call a doctor, i fear this is the end
this happens all the time
this happens every day
but i never seem to quit
^this are obvious lyrics about attempted suicide.
But then "the wolves never stay at bay. " means that he can't stop.
Also the
"tastes so bitter, feels so sweet" - hurts so much but feels so good. "lost in a dream, never fell asleep" - when you come extremely close to the threshold. "tastes so bitter, feels so sweet"
"i've come back to old remedies" - tried to stop like 'the wolves never stay at bay. ' basically saying he cannot stop once again.
It's obviously about self-harm to me anyways. I'm not forcing an opinion on others.
Although, rawanduntouched has an excellent point. It could all be seen as a metaphor for alcohol. "i can't stop the bleeding and it's only getting worse. " could mean i tried to stop but made it worse.
I suppose this song changes meaning from person to person because i couldn't decided if it was about alcohol abuse or self harm. Regardless, excellent song!
Obviously, to me, it is about alcohol. Tastes so bitter, feels so sweet
lost in a dream, never fell asleep
tastes so bitter, feels so sweet
i've come back to old remedies
Alcohol tastes bitter, but when you're drunk it 'feels so sweet'
'i've come back to old remedies', any true bmth fan knows oli has had... Oh lets say a "past" with alcohol. He tried to get clean and came back to it. The whole "anthem" and "singing" part is a metaphor for his dependence on the alcohol.
