One toke over the line sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

Awaitin' for the train that goes home, sweet Mary
Hopin' that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

Whoooo do you love, I hope it's me
I've been a changin', as you can plainly see
I felt the joy and I learned about the pain that my momma said
If I should choose to make a part of me, surely strike me dead
Now I'm one toke over the line sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line
I'm waitin' for the train that goes home sweet Mary
Hopin' that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

I sail away a country mile,
Now I'm returnin' showin' off a smile
I met all the girls and loved myself a few
And to my surprise like everything else I've been through
It opened up my eyes and now I'm
One toke over the line sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
Don't you just know I waitin' for the train that goes home sweet Mary
Hopin' that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

Don't you just know I waitin' for the train that goes home sweet Mary
Hopin' that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

I want to be
One toke over the line sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line
Don't you just know I waitin' for the train that goes home sweet Mary
Hopin' that the train is on time
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line
Sittin' downtown in a railway station
One toke over line
One toke, one toke over the line

Clearly, dude has bottomed out. He's been chasing something that just ain't
There. Women, dope, and partying have left him empty.
Maybe... Just, maybe, he will find his answer, in that,
    Which his mother taught him.
Or, he is stalking someone. Or, his dealer is, on the train.
    Wtf, do i know?

Or maybe its just about smoking pot at a train station and thinking "man i hope my train is gonna be on time"

It's very clear and simple. The guy is returning home to see his girl after being on the road. He just got a little too stoned while waiting for the train.

Though jesus and mary are exclaimed, this ain't bliblical in any way. This is a lonely, toasted traveler, perhaps a musician or two between en route to another gig.

Toking is just a part of his life that he thinks is fine. But like many young men he felt the traveling bug and "along the way" learned that what he was looking for he already had back home, the girl that loved him, the "pain" was that of being alone. So he bought a few blunts and is on his way home to his sweetheart. :)
