It's basically about being yourself and loving yourself no matter what others seem to think or do. It tells us that we're not alone, that there's others out there who are being judged or mistreated for just being who they are. "take joy in who you are, we know our wings are flawed" just means love yourself however you are, nobody's perfect and you're not alone. And it shows us that the others out there care for us. I've been an outcast all my life and until i met other outcasts like myself i didn't feel secure or cared for; until i found others out there like myself. We are similar yes, but we are never the same because i strongly believe that everyone in this earth is different and that everyone deserves the chance to be themselves. And as the song says being different many times is not accepted in most places "we have nowhere to go, no one to wish us well" but it just lets us know that we should not give up, that somewhere there is somebody who understands. And as the song and the video present many of them coming together, i believe one day we will all rise and show the world, we're here, we're strong, we're different and we're not going anywhere. And thanks to bvb for this song, because of this song i've found more people (outcasts) to join together, and with this song we were inspired to give a local presentation to show that we are different, we are ourselves and we are not hiding anymore :)
