Got a good reason for taking the easy way out
Got a good reason for taking the easy way out now
She was a day tripper, a one way ticket yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/beatles/day_tripper.html ]
She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there
She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there now
She was a day tripper, a one way ticket yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out
Tried to please her, she only played one night stands
Tried to please her, she only played one night stands now
She was a day tripper, a Sunday driver yeah
It took me so long to find out, and I found out
Day tripper
Day tripper yeah
Day tripper
Day tripper yeah
Day tripper

By the middle sixties, the beatles themselves said they were stressed out from live performances. Check out the cover of "beatles for sale. " the title alone says it all. Drugs -- the "big teaser" -- were the "reason for taking way out. " when they say it took them "so long to find out," it means that they found a way to escape the pressure they felt. And a little kid knows that a "sunday driver" is recklessness. Thus, the song means that they got involved with drugs, but used them recklessly.
