Avenged Sevenfold – Lost lyrics
Centuries passed and still the same
War in our blood, some things never change
Fighting for land and personal gain
Better your life, justify our pain
The end is knocking
The end is knocking

We've all been lost for most of this life
(Lost for most of this life)
Everywhere we turn more hatred surrounds us
And I know that most of us just ain't right
(Most of us just ain't right)
Following the wrong steps, being led by pride

How many lives will we take
How many hearts destined to break
Nowhere to run, can't escape
Full of ourselves, tied to our fate
The end is knocking
The end is knocking, yeah

We've all been lost for most of this life
(Lost for most of this life)
Everywhere we turn more hatred surrounds us
And I know that most of us just ain't right
(Most of us just ain't right)
Following the wrong steps, being led by pride

[Interlude:]

With peace of mind so hard to find
We're dwelling on the drastic signs
Another way to numb our mind
And as you close your eyes tonight
And pray for a better life
You'll see it flying helplessly away

We've all been lost for most of this life
(Lost for most of this life)
Everywhere we turn more hatred surrounds us
And I know that most of us just ain't right
(Most of us just ain't right)
Following the wrong steps, being led by pride

I believe it is about war and killing. By explaining that "hatred surrounds us" we all hate and it causes problems, such as when whites hated african americans they kill just because of their skin. And if you see movies such as Gladiator and Alexander and 300 most movies show that even in like 500 bc and way before that people went to war, and then being proud to lead its country, it turns around and backfires in a negative way. It shows that by going to war many leaders are blind and since they are leading this country we can't do anything so we don't know what is right and we are lost.

There's nothing wrong with praying for help.
The problem is when people cry about their problems constantly and accept being a victim, therefore never trying anything to fix it themselves. That's when it becomes a problem.
However, if you do everything you can to make a change, and you pray to God to help guide you along the way, then it works.
The point is. If you continually make an effort towards something, and pray for it to happen, you'll see a difference sometime. May take awhile, and it will be hard, but it'll happen.
Praying isn't a bad thing at all.
The problem is that many people use praying as a substitute for actually utilizing the abilities to make change themselves, which God has blessed us all with.
When used in substitution of making an effort yourself, it's hard to see a difference. But when prayer is used in combination with doing everything else you can, it's a very effective tool.

This song is just awesome. I love it. In the first two lines, the conclusion of the song is written: "centurys past, and still the same: war in our blood, some things never change. "
it is about the humanity and our addiction to war. And they're right: in every century, in every age of the human history, there are wars and dead. Most people think, that we're better then our ancestors in the antique. But we aren't: we still do war. And since the last century, this is more dangerous then ever before. With the todays arsenal of nuclear weapons, the whole humanity can be eradicaded.

The united states for example is at the top or was but like all great things they forget how they got their and they fall. The end is marking. This is what is happening either in a macro or micro sense. For example it could be a relationship or it could be the whole human existence. Either way it's inevitable to forget how you got their or loose a sense of things and everything comes crashing.
Haha all people do is pray for a better life
you'll see it flying helplessly away.
Instead of actually taking action and fixing things them selves all they do or can do is pray to god. Hoping someone else will fix it. That's all praying really is, so stop praying and start doing things for your self take action, or else nothing will ever change. In your relationships nothing will get better unless you change. In the world, god won't stop killing, wars won't stop, fighting won't just stop, nothing will change until you decide to change it and stop praying for change.
