Actually if you look at the song dear god, he is actually asking god to take care of a woman he loves, and in another song, afterlife, he just briefly says he prays by the grace of god

The nightmare album was based on the revs favourite movie jacobs ladder. If you watch the movie closely enough you can relate this song to many scenes in the movie.

To me it means a man that has been betrayed by another man, so he turns to god and god doesnt help. The man feels trapped and alone.

To me, the song tells a story about god creating man, man trusting god, man feeling betrayed by man and man killing god. Then without god, the world is empty, a total nightmare! Many metaphors can then extend from this interpretation of the song; about life, death, love, control, addiction. To me, is an all encompassing expression of anger and frustration: "you want to hear my side? You'll need to drown to know. " aka, walk a mile in my shoes, god... Life aint easy.

So. The god hates us part is merely referring to the fact that god took jimmy from them. God save us would mean that they don't like the pain and hurt that came from jimmy's death.

As for the person that said a7x is a christian band, i disagree. They have nothing to do with religion. And they aren't talking about everyone, they meant that god must hate the band because they took away someone that meant the world to them.

Does anyone know the real meaning to this song? Cause i belive avenged sevenfold is a christian band and they dont really mean that god hates us!!!

This song has so many meanings. You can listen to it on many perspectives, and take it in as either negative or positive. You can totally tell that this is about 'the rev' and how he died - hence the "pills had a role now there's nothing to take" - but from the top comment saying that avenged sevenfold doesn't like 'gods' choices, i would completely agree. Its a heavy song, but with a simple meaning. "fuck you god" in a harsh way... Or "it was too early for him to go, pick a murderer next time"

I think the song means, as a catholic, that it means that god is here for us (assumption because of the lyrics "god save us, god save us all") but he has to do what he has to do, and a7x doesnt like his choices, probably taking the rev from them and they feel like he hates them, (the lyrics god hates us all" make me think this). And by "all" they mean shadows, johnny christ, syn, and zacky.. Just my thoughts
