Avenged Sevenfold – Crossroads lyrics

I've been traveling for so long
So lost till I stumbled upon
Two roads in front of me
I had to take my time

To the right I could see a church
I took a step in that direction first
But to the left there was a watering hole
Where they were whiskey drunk
And now that's where I wanna pray
The fun down here goes on and on

If I was perfect
Then this would be easy
Either road's plausible
On both I could drown
I walk through the center
With no rules to guide me
I realize it's difficult
But now I can see

There's gotta be another way to go
A way that's much more feasible
A combination of both these lives
A central path without choosing a side

I make decisions one at a time
And no I never say I'm always right
I'm confident that when I stand on my own
You'll see the truest form of a man
When I'm shining through
The fun down here goes on and on

If I was perfect
Then this would be easy
Either road's plausible
On both I could drown
I walk through the center
With no rules to guide me
I realize it's difficult
But now I can see

Oh, I hear them now
All the religious rhyme
(You're a sin)
(You're a sin)
(You're a sinner)

The left isn't better
It's just more of the same
Condemning all these people
For what they believe

I climb to the top of that mountain again
No harness up to save me this way
And the closer to the top I get
The more they take aim
But I'm not you

I may not be perfect
But I've always been true
I may not be worthy in your eyes
Climb up from the bottom
For the last time
The last one the last one
The last time

If I was perfect
Then this would be easy
Either road's plausible
On both I could drown
I walk through the center
With no rules to guide me
I realize it's difficult
But now I can see, yeah.

Both paths suck because both will control you. Churches suck because they tell you what to believe and tell you how to live. Live in all lies and made up bull s*t. The other way is partying, drugs alcohol, which can also control your life or the people who you do it with can control you by making all your decisions to do bad things. Either way you go you will drown. You will be controlled and might as well be dead, because your not living your life. So you have to not be scared to make your own path. On the road you will learn whats right and wrong. Be true to your self and you will find your way. If you go down a path already made then you are walking blind to the real world.
Make your own damn religion that makes sense to you based off your experience not other people's. Don't just believe in one religion until you see Jesus him self turn water into wine. But also don't go to far in the other direction where you don't care, you will get lost that way too.

The song is about how sometimes we have to make a decision and how one choice may seem better than the other. Also how what we choose may be because of what we may believe is the best while to someone else it may seem wrong. I also thing they are trying to say that we all make mistakes and that everything can't be given to us. So we just have to go with what we think is right in our mind.

Agree wit rae but they are also sayin that you will be criticesed no matter which way you choose "Condemning all these people
For what they believe" and that with out others criticizing you with make the only choice that is true to you "I'm confident that when I stand on my own You'll see the truest form of a man When I'm shining through"
this is an intense song its one of their best.

My interpretation of what jimmy meant in this song:.
He wants to indulge in the pleasures of the left, but he also wants to be part of the right side--gods side. So he just stays in the middle of both because he can't decide "either road's plausible/on both i could drown/i walk through the center/with no rules to guide me"also, he knows he's not perfect but his heart is in the right place, " i may not be perfect/but i've always been true/i may not be worthy in your eyes"

I think most people are right regardless, although in I wana say 75% of there songs the song has a much deepe meaning then most people can phathom (a little piece of heaven is my favorite for that) yet is always so simple so it all depends on how the song relates to you and what you wana believe it is about. Cuz we where all perfect (which none is) then this would be a easy and either road is plausible: p
