I definetly agree with your meaning. Cornell is saying to someone that you cannot see the rest of me and that I am the right path to take, perhaps opposed to someone else. I Simply are not your wheels, your ride, our wind that just push forward I AM THE HIGHWAY, take my path.
People so often take others for granted. I think he's saying there's a bigger picture your not seeing. There's more to it all than meets the eye. He's telling us to open our eyes.
